Curly poodle hair can hide mats close to the skin. Introduce a brush and comb slowly using rewards, working in short comfortable sessions. Pay attention behind the ears and under harness contact points. Arrange professional trimming before the coat becomes tangled. Never cut tight mats with scissors against the skin; seek a groomer or veterinarian if the dog is sore.
